The Fruitful Tree by Flyttamouse The Fruitful Tree by Flyttamouse
Coloured pencil, fine-liner and acrylics (and a little bit of oil paint when I picked up the wrong tube....................oops.) I did this for an exhibition on Peace at a local gallery. The colours are kind of symbolic - black for death and suffering (it's a bit meaningless to talk about peace unless you put it in a 'real' context I think), red for blood and green for hope. This is the statement I wrote about it:
Religion is often seen as the cause of war and disharmony, but in fact most religions seek to promote peace. Belief should lead to love for others, and a personal faith can bring hope in even the most difficult of circumstances. Drawing on the monastic tradition of illuminating sacred texts, the FruitfulTree illustrates God's offer of peace to our darkened and blood-stained world.

It's lovely and happy and reminds me of the 18th century crewelwork tree of life pieces I obsess over. The colours are wonderful, too, and it makes a very good point. :)

The borders are so neat! Wow :+fav: for sure. The shading on the tree reminds me a bit of the Monty Pythons Flying Circus animations, not to detract from the messege of the peice.

YES! Another tree! Another masterpiece! Another :+fav:!

That's probably the perfect font and colour scheme. You said it was boring to make, I guess that'd be true, but it's not boring to look at. The dove was a nice touch.

Great Celtic knots, you crazy mouse lady. Those things are death to draw! ^^;

How funny - you must have favourited it just as I favourited your Butterfly Fae! Thank you!
It took...I'm not sure, there was a big gap in the middle! A couple of weeks I think. It was very boring to do! (And gave me neck ache!)

I suppose you must suffer for your art ;) Actually, I can well imagine it was dull. What gallery is it at, if you don't mind my asking?
